The Basics

Steve Poe began his career as a businessman, successfully owning and operating several restaurants, a Christian bookstore, radio station, financial planning office as well as a commodity trading company. In 1986, he left the business world to become the Senior Pastor of a church in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Steve is married to Sandy and has two grown and married children; Ryan and his wife Shannon, and Jenni and her husband Andy, a grandson, Jacob and three granddaughters Emily, Lauren and Jillian. He enjoys travel, tennis and is an avid reader.

Lead Pastor

My responsibilities at church are...I am the lead pastor. My responsibility is to pray and get a vision from God for the direction of our church. It is to teach God’s Word on a regular basis.

My favorite thing about being at Northview is...We are reaching the unchurched world and seeing lives changed.

If I had my dream vacation I’d...love to travel to Italy

If you want to read a good book get...It is usually the one I am reading but I would say “No Perfect People Allowed” by John Burke.

If I could do a hobby for a living I’d...be a travel agent

My favorite team to cheer for is...The Colts!

The best movie I’ve ever seen is...This is also a hard question for me because there are a lot of movies I have really enjoyed. But the one that comes to my mind would be Gladiator.

My most rewarding volunteer activity is...I love to help when possible with different projects of our ACTS Ministry.

If I didn't work at Northview I’d...I was in the business world before I went into ministry so I would imagine I would go back into business.
